Florence Ida (Carlin) Schuldt, 85, of Prior Lake, passed away quietly Aug. 20, 2024.

Florence (Flo or Flossie) was born in Foley Aug. 10, 1939, to John Francis Carlin and Ida Philemon (Latterell) Carlin. She was the youngest of 11 children raised on a rural Benton County farm. She attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse with Ida, her mother, as her teacher, and graduated from Foley High School in 1957, at age 18. She attended some college classes at St. Cloud State University before moving to St. Paul to begin secretarial work.

A mutual friend introduced Flo to the love of her life, Gene Schuldt, and they were married July 8, 1961, at St. Patrick’s Parish in Sauk Rapids. They began their lives together in St. Paul and later moved to Elk River where they raised their family. Florence’s later years were spent at New Perspective Senior Living in Prior Lake. She moved to this facility in September 2019.

Over the years, Flo had several employers, including 3M, Elk River Clinic and Hoffman Engineering. She enjoyed volunteering for many years with St. Andrew’s Church Christian Mothers, the Elk River VFW, and Sherburne County Sheriff’s Department as an inmate escort and as an election judge. For leisure, Flo sang in the church choir and loved to dance.

Florence is preceded in death by husband Gene Robert, daughter Celine Marie (John) Michlitsch, great-grandson Trey Michael (Leah/Tim) Rasmusson, parents John and Ida Carlin, and brothers Eugene, Maurice, Bernard, Marcellus, John, Gerald, and Timothy Carlin.

She is survived by her son John Gregory (Ann) Schuldt, daughter Katherine Jean (Mark) Shafer, daughter Sharon Anne (Andrew) Burke, eight grandchildren (Lauren, Leah, Mary, Emily, Dan, Cece, Jonah, Ben), three step-grandchildren (Jeremy, Justina, Nick), a great-grandson (Reed), and sisters Celine Watters, Ann Mulcrone, and Mariette Brummel.

A Celebration of Life will be 1-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Cremation Society of Minnesota, Edina Chapel, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina, MN 55435.

A private burial will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
