It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel Norbert Herman announces his passing after his illness June 24, 2024, at the age of 87.

Dan passed away peacefully at his home in Goodyear, Arizona, and will lovingly be remembered and missed by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie; his children Deanne (Wes) Beedon, Kathleen (Dan) Szafranski and Pamela (Mike) Schultz; grandchildren Ashley Beedon, Sophia Schultz and Olivia Schultz; sister Barb Gapinski; and brother-in-law Dale Pelvit

Dan grew up in Gilman on the family farm. After marrying Bonnie, they moved to the Twin Cities metro area and started their family. The family moved back to the Gilman area where they had many good friends and neighbors and family before their move to Arizona. Dan was active in the National Guard and also sailed on freight liners on Lake Superior in his earlier days. Dan was an expert in construction. He built many homes and was employed in the commercial construction trade in Minnesota. Dan enjoyed farming his land in Gilman. He liked playing softball and taught his kids how to play. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and making stained glass lamps and figures for his family, friends and neighbors. He loved baseball and watched many Diamondback games with Bonnie and also enjoyed going to the casinos once in a while and going on road trips for vacation. But most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He loved being a grandpa. He will be remembered as an honest hardworking man that befriended everyone he met. Even throughout all of his suffering before the Good Lord called him home he kept a smile on his face and kept his positive attitude and good sense of humor that will remain with us forever.

Predeceased Dan, son Dale Herman; parents Norbert and Pauline Herman; brother- and sister-in-law Gene and Delores Herman; sisters Donna Esselman, Lottie Herman and Susie Pelvit; and brother-in-law Jim Gapinski.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. July 17 (No wake services) at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilman with the Rev. Matthew Langager officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. Luncheon to follow.
